About me

Hello! My name is Bao Nguyen. I am an Assistant Scientist – Agricultural/ Environmental Economist at the International Rice Research Institute. I previously worked as a Research Fellow at Ubon Ratchathani University under the Mekong Thought Leadership and Think Tanks Program, which was supported by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

I received my PhD in Public Policy and M.A. in Development Policy from the Korea Development Institute (KDI) School of Public Policy and Management. My research focuses on three interconnected areas: (1) development program evaluation, particularly assessing the impact and effectiveness of projects and interventions; (2) public management and governance, examining how institutional capacity and accountability influence policy outcomes; and (3) broader issues in development economics, including education, poverty reduction, and social development.

While my research primarily focuses on Vietnam, I have gained international experience in South Korea, Thailand, and Switzerland, which has broadened my comparative perspective on development and governance issues. I use both quantitative and qualitative methods, drawing on fieldwork, household surveys, and secondary data analysis.

My teaching expertise includes research methodology, econometrics, and development economics, with a particular emphasis on applying quantitative and qualitative approaches to analyze policy and development issues.

I am always open to discussing my work or exploring your research interests. Here are my Scopus and Google Scholar. Please contact me at baonguyen@kdis.ac.kr or connect with me on LinkedIn.
